Phone Ghost ("the app") is published by Digital Sea India Pvt Ltd ("we", "us", "our"). The app turns a spare smartphone into a security camera that you watch and control from another phone you own. This policy explains what the app accesses, what we store, and your choices. By using Phone Ghost you agree to this policy.

The short version.

Live video and audio stream directly between your two devices (peer-to-peer). In normal use we do not record, watch, or store your live stream.
We store only what powers the app's features: small event snapshots/clips you or motion/sound detection create, an anonymous device ID, and device status.
No account, name, email, or password is required. No advertising. No selling of data. No third-party ad or analytics trackers.
You can delete everything at any time from inside the app.

1. Information the app accesses on your device

Camera

When a phone is used as a camera, the app uses its camera to stream live video to your paired viewer device and to run motion detection on the device itself. To keep working when the screen is off or the app is in the background, the camera runs inside an Android foreground service; while it does, an ongoing notification and the system camera indicator remain visible. Live video is not uploaded to our servers.

Microphone

Used for live audio, two-way talk, and on-device sound detection. Audio is streamed peer-to-peer to your viewer device and is not uploaded to our servers in normal use.

Notifications

Used to alert you to motion, sound, a camera going offline, low battery, and to show the ongoing "monitoring" notification while a camera is active.

2. Information we store on our servers

Anonymous device identity. Each device is issued a random ID and access token. This is not linked to your name, email, or phone number.
Event snapshots & clips. When motion or sound is detected, or when you take a snapshot or record, a small image or short video clip is stored so it can appear in your activity timeline. These are tied only to your anonymous device account.
Pairing & sharing records. Which camera devices are linked to which viewer devices, and any share grants you create.
Device status. Battery level, charging state, network quality, app version, and last-seen time — used for health, offline alerts, and reconnection.
Signalling data. The minimal connection information needed to establish the peer-to-peer link between your devices. This is transient and not used to reconstruct your video.

We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, precise location, or advertising identifiers.

3. How your video reaches the other phone

Live video and audio use WebRTC and travel directly between your camera phone and your viewer phone, encrypted in transit (DTLS-SRTP). When a direct connection is not possible between networks, the media may be relayed through our TURN server purely to pass the encrypted stream along; we do not decrypt, record, or retain it.

4. How we use information

To operate the core features: pairing, live view, two-way talk, alerts, timeline, and device health.
To deliver notifications you have enabled.
To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

5. Sharing

Content is visible only to devices you explicitly pair or to people you invite with a share code. We do not share your data with third parties except infrastructure strictly needed to run the service (secure hosting), and where required by law. We never sell personal data.

6. Data retention

Event snapshots and clips are pruned automatically as new events arrive and according to the retention you choose. You can delete individual events, clear a camera's history, or delete all of your data at any time. When you delete your data or remove a camera, the associated events, clips, snapshots, and share grants are removed from our servers.

7. Deleting your data

In the app: open the viewer dashboard, tap the menu, and choose "Delete all my data" — this removes your cameras, events, clips, snapshots, and shares, and resets the device. You may also request deletion by email (see Contact). Instructions are also at Data deletion.

8. Security

Connections use HTTPS/TLS; live media uses encrypted WebRTC (DTLS-SRTP). Access requires short-lived pairing/share codes and per-device tokens — knowing a device ID is never enough to connect. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.

9. Children

Phone Ghost is a general-audience security tool and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Lawful and responsible use

Phone Ghost is intended for monitoring spaces, property, and devices that you own or are lawfully authorised to monitor. You are responsible for complying with the laws of your location, including any laws about recording video or audio and notifying people who may be recorded. Do not use the app to monitor anyone without the authority to do so.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, in the app.
